Fashion History

I've been a fashion history scholar for many years. I regularly visit costume collections in the U.S., the U.K. and Europe, and I've had the privilege of examining (touching, fondling) many items in the Victoria & Albert Museum's extensive textile archive. (Protective white gloves required!)

Here are photographs taken as part of my research, chiefly from the Georgian era. More will be added over time, to include the Regency period.

Some 17th century shoes, a pair of 1735 shoes covered in silk, and 18th century red leather shoes.

Gowns from the 1740's, 1760, and 1785.

Court gowns.
