I spent a great deal of my time in the British Library, accessing original documents and other material related to the novel I'm writing. I also worked at the London Metropolitan Archive, reading personal papers belonging to my characters, and carrying out some necessary architectural research. But I wasn't indoors all the time. My husband and I did much walking, and the weather was perfect. We were therefore able to enjoy the gardens and flowerbeds, profusely blooming.
I admire an early-blooming rose beside Coram's Fields.
