The gardens of Hampton Court are extensive.
At the rear of the Privy Garden is a set of four gilded gates, each with motifs representing the regions of Great Britain. This one features the Rose of England.
The fountain, in what was the Great Parterre--before the late 18th century designer Capability Brown swept it away in favour of his own style of park landscaping.
One of the pair of enormous urns, which have adorned the gardens since 1690.
Crown Imperial blooming in a border.
A crabapple in what used to be the Wildnerness--which belied its name, for it was planted formally and precisely with evergreens and a maze.
In our case, the answer to the question posed is "No, we did not!" I've found my way to the heart of the maze a few times in the past. Although we entered it, my husband hadn't the patience to continue for very long. And there was so much else to see! < < < Travel Menu All Rights Reserved. |
