My family and ancestral connections to England, my time spent there as a student, and the fact that my husband works there ensure that I return regularly. The Porters came to New England directly from Dorchester in Dorset in the 17th century. The counties of my heritage are Somerset, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Worcestersire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk.
