On my annual visit we alternate day-trips out to Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle, important locations in my novel. 2008 was a Windsor year. It's one of my favourite and most familiar rail journeys, which closely follows the path of the River Thames.

I've posted the front of the Crooked House. I think it looks even more crooked from the rear.
We arrived in time for the Changing of the Guard. The band and the guards march from the Castle, through the town to their barracks.
This house in St. Albans Street is an important location in my novel, another gift of Charles II to Nell Gwyn. But the original building no longer exists.
Much of the property now houses the Royal Mews, and this visitor education centre.

St. George's Chapel, site of the installation ceremonies for the Order of the Garter, and burial site for numerous kings and queens and consorts.
The female protagonist in my novel was interred in the Rutland Chapel in St. George's.
