We visited Nottingham for a couple of days. Neither my husband nor I had spent any time there, and I needed to do site research at a nearby estate.
On our first morning we woke to light snow.
We went to Nottingham Castle, now the city's art gallery.
The castle is high above the city, providing a panoramic view.
Below the Castle is a museum on Nottingham life and culture. These sandstone caves are underneath, and were useful during the Blitz.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem was right next door, also built into the caves. I drank cider in a cave-like room. It claims to be the oldest inn in England.
